The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked presidential aspirants to submit their expression of interest and nomination forms with the signatures of statutory delegates.

It was gathered that the precondition for submitting the forms include the signatures of 10 statutory delegates from each state and the Federal Capital Territory, which amounts to 370 statutory delegates.

According to The PUNCH, aspirants are also expected to sign and submit the controversial Form 18 ‘Letter of Withdrawal’, alongside other documents.

The statutory delegates include President Muhammadu Buhari and his deputy, serving governors and ex-governors, state executive council members, National Executive Committee and National Working Committee members, as well as all former national officers of the party, among others.

About 30 aspirants have so far declared interest to succeed Buhari while about 18 have obtained forms already.

Those that have obtained their forms include  Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; APC national leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; and Governors Yahaya Bello and Abubakar Badaru of Kogi and Jigawa states; Dimeji Bankole; Pastor Tunde Bakare; Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba and others.

Although the statutory delegates’ signatures and the letter of withdrawal were some of the reasons some aspirants had yet to submit their forms, the guidelines and timetables of the ruling party released by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, fixed Tuesday as the last day for the submission.
